An entrance ramp to the 405 Freeway near LAX was closed Friday morning after the discovery of grenade that led to a bomb squad investigation. The Century Boulevard entrance ramp to the northbound 405 Freeway was closed for the investigation. The California Highway Patrol said it was not immediately clear whether the grenade is live or inert. Details about how the grenade was discovered were not immediately available. A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad responded, as did the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The item was recovered and rendered safe, with the bomb squad clearing the scene by 11:45 a.m., a fire department dispatcher told City News Service.
