It's Boston's last cool day before a summer stretch! Here's what to know

Sunday is the last day with “cool temperatures,” even though our average highs are usually in the mid-50s this time of the year.  A sea breeze will kick in late Sunday and temps fall to the 40s at the coast, staying in the 50s inland until sunset.  Overnight a warm front approaches, so our clouds increase and lows stay in the 40s. A few light showers move by before sunrise Monday, then a south wind and some breaks in the clouds by the afternoon will mean temps soar to the upper 60s and low 70s.  Another wave of sprinkles or showers move through Monday evening, but not expecting much rainfall.  The jet stream flips to the north, creating a ridge over the Northeast — that’s why our temperatures are heating up this week!  Each day, our temps in Boston and along the coast will be dependent on the wind direction…and the sea breeze.  A sea breeze happens when the land warms up and heat rises. The air moves offshore and cools. Then the air sinks over the colder ocea
