Storm Team4 Forecast: Getting warmer near 90° ahead of muggy Thursday

4 things to know about the weather: Early AM sprinkles Warm, sunny afternoon Steamy Thursday, PM storms Weekend still looks good A fast moving surge of summertime heat and humidity in on the way. Southwest winds will pick up speed Wednesday and remain quite strong through the end of the day Thursday. The clouds that rolled in last night will deliver a few sprinkles of rain first thing Wednesday morning before getting pushed out of the area by the increasing wind. Mostly sunny skies Wednesday afternoon will help push temperatures back to near 90° with higher humidity levels than Tuesday. It will remain quite a bit milder Wednesday night with most areas staying at or above 70° by Thursday morning. Hot, humid and quite windy conditions are coming Thursday. Highs will be near 95°. Most of us stay dry today, severe thunderstorms possible tomorrow

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of far northern Maine on Wednesday afternoon. See live interactive weather radar below. Top ten days may be behind us (for now), but today still stands tall. Highs will sneak up near 80 as clouds thicken in the afternoon. And that doesn’t include the potential for thunderstorms in the afternoon. While there are still a few questions as to where they flare up, the threat has not diminished. Severity is a function of how much sun we see (more sun=more intense), and right now there doesn’t appear to be enough time between when the morning rain moves out and the storms fire up. Frozen Greenland middens preserve 4,500 years of farms, seal hunts and toilets

Greenland has a long and checkered history of human settlement: several Paleo-Inuit cultures since approximately 2,500 BCE, descendants of Vikings between the 10th and 15th centuries, and early modern Danes since 1721. All left their traces on the landscape, for example in the form of ancient domestic rubbish heaps. Composed of waste like animal bones, excrement, mollusk shells and human artifacts, these middens are a precious resource for archaeologists.

After going unbeaten last year on their way to an Arena Crown championship, the Firebirds opened this season with 8 consecutive wins. But on Saturday, Albany was stunned in their own building as their 20-game win streak was snapped.
