Mayor Cherelle Parker announces recipients of Philly anti-violence grants

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker announced the recipients of the first $2 million in anti-violence grants for 2026. The announcement – which is part of Gun Violence Awareness Month – took place on Tuesday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at City Hall. Mayor Parker and Philadelphia’s Office of Public Safety discussed the 47 recipients of the Targeted Community Investment Grants. The grants support Philadelphia neighborhoods that are harmed by gun violence and aim to increase public safety while building a stronger sense of community. As of June 15, there were 67 reported homicides in Philadelphia in 2026, down 33% from the same time last year which ultimately saw the lowest number of homicides in the city in decades, according to police data.
