Hundreds rally outside Otay Mesa Detention Center on ‘No Kings' anniversary

Hundreds of people gathered Sunday outside the Otay Mesa Detention Center to mark the anniversary of the start of ‘No Kings’ rallies and show support for detainees held inside the facility. The demonstration, led by the group Indivisible, took place along Calzada de la Fuente in front of the detention center. Organizers said the event also coincided with Flag Day and highlighted what they described as the international nature of the United States. Flags representing multiple countries lined the sidewalk outside the facility during the rally. Connie Elder, an organizer with Indivisible, said the timing of the event was significant. “This Sunday is the first anniversary of the No Kings one rally.
